How South Dakota Trucking Companies are Fighting for Your Rights in D.C. April 17 2018

In the spirit of truckers heading to Washington, we wanted to share about our own fearless leader Shelley's trip to D.C. this past fall. Shelley, along with representatives from other small South Dakota truck lines, went to Washington D.C. to meet with the federal Department of Transportation. Senator Rounds arranged the meeting and attended part of the meeting until his duties called him away. Staffers from his office and the offices of Thune and Noem were also in attendance. During their meeting, South Dakota trucking companies had the chance to make their voices heard—especially when it came to issues surrounding the ELD Mandate. Have You Heard About the Proposed Changes to Hours of Service? - The REST Act April 10 2018

We've known that the 14 hour rule was problematic since it was first introduced, but it isn't until the last few months that we've really felt the full impact of the legislation. Since the ELD Mandate went into effect in December of 2017 we have heard that drivers are more tired than they've ever been. This exhaustion comes because the inflexibility of the 14 hour rule. But change is in the air.
