An Average 4-Wheeler Goes OTR

Written by Carrie Anderson | October 14 2017

My name is Carrie and I... I'm an average 4-wheeler.

Go ahead, say it. I know you want to.

HI, CARRIE!

I am the lady behind many of these blog posts you read (or don't read, I see you...) on the K & J website. I love working with the team at K & J to help craft original content for this website that hits at the heart of the trucking industry and what it means to be part of the K & J family.

I have learned a LOT about trucking in the past year and I work hard to understand the industry; but I'm still not a truck driver.

I hated the disconnect I had from life on the road and I wanted to understand the real issues that drivers face every day. So, I went OTR.

Meet Summer

Summer is a female driver for K & J that I've gotten to know over the past few months (she is the one behind the wheel in the picture). She has written a series of blogs for the site, specifically focusing on her struggles to lose weight and get healthy while on the road. So when I decided it was time to try on the trucker life, I knew Summer was my gal!

We hit the road in Sioux Falls with a load to Fargo. I was on the rig for 2 full days. While I'm well aware that was a short time, I learned a lot. I took a lot of pictures, a lot of video, and we may have talked the whole time. If you know me, this is probably not a shock.

Get to the Good Stuff Already, Carrie

Over the next few weeks and months I will fill you in on more of what I learned while on the road. There will be videos, puppy pictures, laughter, shots of the road, and lots of learning. For example, I didn't even know that I was what truckers call a "4-wheeler" (regular vehicle driver) until I went on the road with my new friend, Summer.

So I hope you stay tuned to the blog for more updates. My love for the industry has grown, and with it my respect for what truck drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, shippers, receivers, and office staff do every day. Thanks for keeping the country running!

Much Respect,
Carrie
