It was with great pride and a little emotion that Bob Willey, Chairman of the South Dakota Trucking Association, presented the 2023 Chairman's Award to K&J Trucking President Shelley Koch and her husband Brad Schipper. Each year at the South Dakota Trucking Association (SDTA) convention, the outgoing board chairman presents an award to the individual of his or her choosing. This was the first year the award has ever been presented to two individuals.
Willey selected the couple based on their strong support of the SDTA over the years, including their help with the Annual Cliff Tjaden Fishing Tournament and their involvement in the board and association events. During his presentation speech, Willey praised the couple:
"I've been so looking forward to this for quite a while. They are quite a duo... They've been the main driving force in the [Annual Cliff Tjaden] fishing event we hold each summer. Brad and Shelley Schipper. Two of the very most deserving people. Not only do they contribute their time and their money, but they are always willing to volunteer... They've sponsored and done the [fishing] calcutta and not only that but they paid for the auctioneer, lined up the auctioneer, and last year through their own generosity provided the food for the fishing tournament...
[K&J has] been a longstanding business... their kids are involved in the business now, and I look forward to having them around too as much as I did Brad and Shelley."
